Applied Scientist II @ AWS

I am an Applied Scientist at Amazon Web Services, Inc. In May 2026, I defended my Ph.D. dissertation in Computer Science at North Carolina State University under the supervision of Dr. Min Chi.

Before joining AWS full time, I have worked at Amazon as an Applied Scientist Intern in Summer 2025 and at Under Armour as a Research Scientist Intern in Summer 2024. Prior to starting my Ph.D. at NC State, I have worked as a Software Engineer at Marginedge and a Lecturer in the Computer Science and Engineering department at United International University.

My research interests include reinforcement learning, apprenticeship learning, machine learning, data mining, representation learning, and generative AI. I am particularly interested in developing algorithms that can better model sequential decision-making processes in complex human-centric environments, especially in domains such as education and healthcare.

I received my M.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University in July 2024 and my B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in April 2019.

I am passionate about research, development, teaching, and communicating ideas. I enjoy speaking with people, exchanging perspectives, and sharing knowledge, as these conversations often inspire me to keep learning and exploring new problems.

June 1, 2026: I joined Amazon Web Services, Inc. as an Applied Scientist under the AWS T&C : AI Innovation Science team.
May 6, 2026: I defended my dissertation titled "Offline Apprenticeship Learning for Human-Centric Environments" and passed unconditionally.
Mar 23, 2026: My first authored paper titled "Hierarchical Apprenticeship Learning from Imperfect Demonstrations with Evolving Rewards" got accepted in AIED 2026 Main Technical Track as a Full paper (acceptance rate: 16.7%)
Dec 8, 2025: Unconditionally passed Ph.D. Oral Preliminary Exam / Ph.D. Dissertation Proposal Defense and became a Ph.D. Candidate in CS @ NC State
May 15, 2025: Our paper titled "THEMES: An Offline Apprenticeship Learning Framework for Evolving Reward Functions" got accepted in KDD 2025 Research Track (acceptance rate: 18.4%)
April 29, 2025: Our paper titled "Human-Readable Neuro-Fuzzy Networks from Frequent Yet Discernible Patterns in Reward-Based Environments" got accepted in IJCAI 2025 - Main Track (acceptance rate: 19.3%)
April 3, 2025: My first authored paper titled "A Generalized Apprenticeship Learning Framework for Capturing Evolving Student Pedagogical Strategies" got accepted in AIED 2025 - Machine Learning & Generative AI track (acceptance rate: 19%)
